Access control starts with a simple question: who should be able to go where?
The answer can quickly become more complex. Staff, contractors, cleaners, visitors and service providers may require different access to different areas, at different times, across different locations.
Safeguard designs the permission structure as part of the security architecture. The objective is to make access appropriate to the person's role while keeping administration understandable for the customer.
A powerful system is of little value if permissions become so complicated that nobody can confidently manage them.

ENTERPRISE USER & PERMISSION MANAGEMENT
As organisations grow, access administration can become a security problem of its own. Enterprise access control allows permissions to be structured around roles, locations, areas, schedules and other operational requirements.
A national organisation should not need a separate access database and a different operating method at every location.
Safeguard can design multi-site environments in which users, doors, permissions, events and system administration are centrally managed through an appropriate enterprise platform.
Access control creates a history of how the security environment is being used. Depending on the platform and configuration, authorised users can review access events, user history, permissions, time-on-site information and other operational reports.
Safeguard also considers the quality of the database itself. Unidentified credentials, obsolete users, inconsistent permission groups and undocumented programming can weaken accountability even when the hardware is working.
BEYOND THE DOOR
Depending on the customer's requirements, the access-control environment may interact with lifts, vehicle access, intrusion detection, CCTV, mobile duress, visitor management, intercoms and other security or building systems. Integration is used where it creates a useful security or operational outcome.

BEHIND THE SOLUTION
Readers, locking devices, door monitoring, request-to-exit, controllers and associated infrastructure need to operate as one reliable chain.
Enterprise access-control environments may depend on LAN/WAN connectivity, servers, software services and communications pathways that need to be designed and supported appropriately.
Power supplies and backup batteries are part of system reliability and should be considered as part of the security architecture rather than as background hardware.
Where supported and appropriately connected, Safeguard can remotely diagnose conditions, review events, administer programming and investigate faults before deciding whether physical attendance is required.
EXISTING SYSTEMS
Good.
We don't automatically assume it needs replacing. The existing environment can be assessed for condition, programming, permissions, architecture, supportability and unnecessary complexity before deciding what genuinely needs to change.
